"Photographer Stefan Hengst (b 1967) brings a candid style to his images inspired by the distressed, faded decay that is around us everyday. Wanting to capture ordinary items and objects that have been thrown away, the artist relates his work to the readymades at the beginning of the 20th century, where found objects were transformed and presented as art. He questions the notion of art and the adoration of art—both a reflection on mass production and the limitations of time—as well as a call to action."
