Flying Dream Machine, 2012
24" x 36"
ink and graphite on vellum
Flying Dream Machine is dedicated to the history of flight - one of the most inspiring goals of engineering. Many individuals participated in the experiment, often at great personal risk.
Flying Dream Machine consists of a conglomeration of flight technologies, from the Montgolfier brothers' balloon of the 1780s to the winged glider contraptions of the turn of the century to World-War-II-style airplane engines. Heavy roots hang down to the earth, signifying the continuing dependence of flight on fossil fuels. — K.S.
