"The concept of the Desert Design Lab was to travel across country for two months with an RV trailer (a mobile studio) to develop my new Desert Impressions body of work, spending an extended period of time in a number of remote landscapes and ecosystems to gather images and textures.

"The Desert Design Lab has three main goals during this time. Firstly to gather the imagery and physical molds for this new work. Secondly, to virtually design the furniture forms for which each texture will be used. Third, to invite a handful of artists, designers, writers, craftsmen to collaborate with me on location."—V.B.
