The third chair in the series [fig. 7] is a small and lightweight dining chair. Once again the elements are reconfigured. All the chairs thus far are made from Irish-grown wood, and this chair is Irish cherry, from a tree I knew growing up. This is not evident when looking at or interacting with the chair—it cannot be ascertained by any sensory perception. That an object contains its history, its identity and provenance, but cannot communicate it, is fascinating to me. Its meaning is in constant flux as further information about it becomes known or unknown.
